2020 has seen loneliness and isolation affecting most of us in our day to day lives as well as the lives of our residents.
We are delighted to be joined by renowned keynote speaker Big Ian Donaghy for his knowledgable and inspiring take on the current climate and what we can do to support ourselves, our colleagues and our residents.
Like many of us if you’ve found this year difficult seeing the impact on your colleagues and residents, join Ian for an inspiring talk with actionable advice.
This is NOT a sit and watch session so bring some A4 paper and a thick marker pen to join in this interactive session.
“Big” Ian Donaghy has a varied CV that includes roles as Bouncer, Special school teacher, Successful musician, Author, Innovator and Speaker. Now at just under 17 stone (the lowest since the days of Wham he claims) he sometimes misses the additional 12 stone he used to carry around, particularly on cold days.
Writer of the books DEAR DEMENTIA and THE MISSING PEACE, he has also developed initiatives such as “Xmas Presence” to combat loneliness in older people at Christmas. He also created “A Night to Remember” – the UKs largest musical event to raise awareness of Dementia. He has developed a free campaign #Dementiaisateamgame which has involved the likes of the Hairy Bikers, Barry Mcguigan & Frank Lampard
Ian won the Innovation in Dementia Care Award 2018 and is a previous Care trainer of the year.
